praying effectively, Do Not Commit Adultery (Ex., Deut.)

(Exodus 20:14, Deuteronomy 5:18)  “You shall not commit adultery."

Reminder:  "praying effectively" involves knowing God's will.  When we pray in His will (in His name), He may choose to not answer those prayers in the time period that we would like, or HOW we would like - but He will answer those prayers!

It is God's will:  that we do not commit adultery

Today's prayer:

Dear Lord God, help my husband and I continue to remain faithful.  Surround us with hedges of protection for our marriage.  Keep us from temptation.  Let our hearts and minds be focused on You, and then on each other - only.  May our integrity and commitment to each other be a reflection of Your great attributes.

Help our daughter and son-in-law's marriage remain steadfast and sincere as they continue to build their relationship, always putting You first.  As they draw closer to You, they will become closer to each other in Your love and strength.

Guide and protect our son as a single man, that he remains faithful to the wife he still hasn't met yet.  Also guide and protect the woman who might some day be our son's wife, that she also remains faithful to him.  Shape and equip our son and his possible future wife now, in order to be the spouses they need to be for a successful marriage based on Your love.

I ask that You guide those fellow Christians who have spouses who have strayed.  If it is at all possible, help them truly reconcile and mend their broken vows.  But if this will not happen, convict the one who has strayed and let them see that there are consequences to their actions, but that it is never too late to turn back to You and abide In Your will.  And for the one who has been betrayed, still help them to forgive their spouse in order for them to move on in Your peace and strength, and remain steadfast in Your will.  Give them wisdom to know how to proceed in their lives, especially if there are children involved.  Lord, protect the children!  Amen.
