JESUS our Savior (Ps.17-20)

Throughout the Psalms, king David often speaks about the LORD using many terms that are clearly used as descriptions for Jesus in the New Testament.  One very important term used is "Savior"...

(Psalm 17:7)  Wondrously show Your lovingkindness, Savior of those who take refuge at Your right hand from those who rise up against them.

Wow, the Bible is amazing!  In Acts, Luke records what Paul preached - recapping history.  Apostle Paul would have really known the scriptures (of the Old Testament) since he had been diligently trained as a pharisee.  Then on the road to Damascus - he literally "saw the light" and became a believer - and continued his zealous mission - NOW spreading the good news (first to the Israelites AND then to the Gentiles)...

(Acts 13:16-23)  Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said,
“Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen: 17 The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm He led them out from it.  18 For a period of about forty years He put up with them in the wilderness. 19 When He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land as an inheritance—all of which took about four hundred and fifty years. 20 After these things He gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. 21 Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 After He had removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.’ 23 From the descendants of this man, according to promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus..."

It is not an accident that the Old and New Testament are so intertwined and linked up as they are!  God is all-knowing!  And with PURPOSE - over hundreds and hundreds of years - as God inspired all these different men to write the scriptures - His Word is one cohesive, solid message of hope!!!

As a writer, I'm awe-struck - because - I know how difficult it is to write a script of only 90 pages and NOT have any inconsistencies.  And I'm only one person!  I can't tell you how often I've struggled with a script's premise and how I should develop the outline and how to bring about the story's outcome while staying true to every character's inner and out motives!  And  I've got spellcheck and a computer to save my work!  And for content, I'll reread and reread... and have friends read my scripts in order to let me know if there are any places that don't make sense. And much later on - I'll still find a few mistakes in my script.  SO - there is absolutely NO WAY the Bible could have been just "made up!"  Writers will always argue about the direction of a story and will want to "make it their own."

So, we do not NEED to see Jesus in the flesh in order to believe!  The Bible alone is a testimony of Jesus... allowing us to SEE Jesus very clearly.

(2 Timothy 14-16)  You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
