today's meditation (Psalm 20) Praying in Righteousness

(Dear Lord Jesus, guide me and give me insight as I read and study Your word, and let it be the meditation of my heart...)

(Psalm 20:1-9)   May the Lord answer you on a day of trouble!

     May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
2   May He send you help from the sanctuary,
     And support you from Zion!
3   May He remember all your meal offerings
     And accept your burnt offering! Selah

4   May He grant you your heart’s desire
     And fulfill your whole plan!
5   We will sing for joy over your victory,
     And in the name of our God we will set up our banners.
     May the Lord fulfill all your desires.

6   Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed;
     He will answer him from His holy heaven
     With the saving strength of His right hand.
7   Some praise their chariots and some their horses,
     But we will praise the name of the Lord, our God.
8   They have bowed down and fallen,
     But we have risen and stood upright.
9   Save, Lord;
     May the King answer us on the day we call.

TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:
These verses ask that God may save, answer, protect, help, support, remember, accept, grant and fulfill...  But this is not actually asking God of anything, these verses are asking more about our own actions.
Are we a child of God so that He will answer us, as our heavenly Father?   Are we sincerely calling on His name so that He will protect, help and support us?   Are we humbly giving to God and continually seeking Him, praising Him, and sharing the gospel message, celebrating with each other when someone experiences victory in Jesus - so that He will accept our requests and remember and fulfill our desires?
This is important to know, because sin impedes prayers from being answered...
(James 5:16)  Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.  A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.
