(Genesis 3:14) The Lord God said to the serpent,
“Because you have done this, cursed are you more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you will go, and dust you will eat all the days of your life
Within the consequences, God prophesied how Satan would pursue the Israelites (because they would become God's chosen ones), but more so about how Satan's pursuit would be to kill and destroy Jesus.. Eve's seed is a reference to Jesus. Satan bruised Jesus on the heel by influencing how Jesus suffered on the cross. But Satan is bruised on the head when Christ's death and resurrection paid the price for all sin...
(Genesis 3:15) And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.”
So we can see:
- Satan was cursed because of his rebellion against God
- Satan desires to kill and destroy Jesus
- there is a spiritual battle: Satan and the demons against God and His children...
Personal experience: Satan's battle is against God; so wherever the evangelistic outreach is strong, Satan will try to tear that down. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that I saw a lot of spiritual activity while I was a missionary in Puerto Rico. I've also seen a lot of spiritual warfare in churches where many people were becoming Christians. And because the Jews are God's "chosen ones" - it is certainly no wonder why the nation of Israel rarely experiences any prolonged time of peace.
Today's takeaway: we do not have to and we should not focus on the battle, but we can and we should focus on God's peace...
(John 16:33) “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
