praying effectively: Love One Another (2John 1:1-6)

(2 John 1:1-6)  The elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not only I, but also all who know the truth, for the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever: Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

I was very glad to find some of your children walking in truth, just as we have received commandment to do from the Father. Now I ask you, lady, not as though I were writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

Reminder:  "praying effectively" involves knowing God's will.  When we pray in His will (in His name), He may choose to not answer those prayers in the time period that we would like, or HOW we would like - but He will answer those prayers!

It is God's will:
- that we walk in God's truth (1:4)
- that we walk according to God's commandments with the motivation of God's love (1:6)
- that we love one another (1:5)

Today's prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for Your truth and for Your love.  It is the one who sincerely loves, who imparts truth, telling us what we need to hear, and not just what we want to hear.  Guide us to desire wisdom in Your truth, because it is what we need!

Help us to understand that what we need is Your love - which is such a good and marvelous thing!!!  How can we not want to embrace that???  And how can we not want to share that???  Give us strength and courage to share Your love and Your truth with those around us.  All to Your glory, amen.
