praying effectively: Do Good (3John 1:9-11)

(3 John 1:9-11)  I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept what we say. 10 For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and puts them out of the church.
11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is goodThe one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.
Reminder:  "praying effectively" involves knowing God's will.  When we pray in His will (in His name), He may choose to not answer those prayers in the time period that we would like, or HOW we would like - but He will answer those prayers!

It is God's will:
- that we imitate what is good, not evil (1:11)

Today's prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for being good.  Thank You for Your example of what goodness should look like.  Guide and help us to be more like You, imitating Your example, as well as imitating believers who remain steadfast in their walk with You.  May we draw from Your inspiration, so that we may also be an inspiration to others.  All to Your glory, amen.
