JESUS, 100% God, 100% man (Matt.1)

As I approached the New Testament, I kept wondering how I would handle my chosen theme, since it is "Jesus - and where He is mentioned in the Bible.  (or "Where do we find Jesus in the Bible").  Since in the four gospels, Jesus IS on the earth and very visible -  I'm going to note all the times it specifically stands out that "JESUS IS - GOD ON EARTH",

First of all, it is very important that Jesus was born through the line of king David in order to fulfill the Davidic covenant, and born through the line of Abraham to fulfill the Abrahamic covenant...

(Matthew 1:1)  The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham...

God had promised that David's kingdom would be everlasting.  And in the Abrahamic covenant, God had promised the Israelites their land, seed and blessings, which could only be enjoyed when they are living in obedience.  Well, to be living in obedience as a nation requires the perfect King.  And part of the Abrahamic covenant was the promise that all nations would be blessed.  Only through God can all of this be possible.

The virgin birth is also very important.  Jesus had to be both 100% man and 100% God...

(Matthew 1:18)  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus (100% God) was not only the rightful earthly king of Israel, but being 100% man as well, meant that He could live on earth among us as our perfect example, and then take on all our sins to die in our place...

(Matthew 1:19-23)  And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly. 20 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. 22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, God with us.”

And only because Jesus is 100% God could He have victory over death and offer everlasting life...

(1 Corinthians 15:21-22)  For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
