JESUS our Living Water (Is.11-12)

Isaiah 11 is a reference to Jesus (which is confirmed in Romans 15)...

(Isaiah 11:1-2)  Then shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.  The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

Jesse was king David's father, so this is explaining that Jesus will be born into (or really - will come out of...) King David's lineage, so not only is Jesus the King of kings, He would be the legitimate earthly king of Israel.  And, when Jesus began His ministry on earth, He first went to John the Baptist to be baptized (in order to be an earthly example of obedience, as well as) so that God could show the world that Jesus was the legitimate Son of God...

(Matthew 3:16-17)  After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he (John the Baptist) saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, 17 and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”

The rest of Isaiah chapter 11 explains how it will be at the Second Coming of Jesus - when Jesus will judge the sinners (at the battle of Armageddon), and how Jesus would bring about peace and blessings to the earth (in the Millennium).

Isaiah chapter 12 are the lyrics for a song of a praise which contained descriptions of Jesus...

(Isaiah 12:1-6)   Then you will say on that day, I will give thanks to You, O Lord;  for although You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.
“Behold, God is my salvationI will trust and not be afraid;  for the Lord God is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.”
Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation.
And in that day you will say, Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name.  Make known His deeds among the peoples;  make them remember that His name is exalted.”
Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things;  let this be known throughout the earth.
Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.
The Israelites were excited that their Messiah would one day come to fulfill the Abrahamic covenenat.  They knew what He would stand for. They knew these references and descriptions.  And when Jesus came to earth the first time, He made it extremely clear!

(John 7:37-38)  ...on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”
