today's meditation (Ps.99) Not Taking God for Granted

(Dear Lord Jesus, guide me and give me insight as I read and study Your word, and let it be the meditation of my heart...)

(Psalm 99:1-9)  The Lord reigns, the peoples tremble!
     He sits enthroned above the cherubim, the earth quakes!
2   The Lord is great in Zion,
     And He is exalted above all the peoples.
3   May they praise Your great and awesome name;
     Holy is He.
4   The strength of the King loves justice;
     You have established order;
     You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5   Exalt the Lord our God
     And worship at His footstool;
     Holy is He.

6   Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
     And Samuel was among those who called on His name;
     They called upon the Lord and He answered them.
7   He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
     They kept His testimonies
     And the statute that He gave them.
8   Lord our God, You answered them;
     You were a forgiving God to them,
     And yet an avenger of their evil deeds.
9   Exalt the Lord our God
     And worship at His holy hill,
     For the Lord our God is holy.

TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:
Our holy hill is synonymous to us attending church to worship and serve the Lord, who is holy; yet it can be so easy to take Him for granted.  But because He is holy, this is the reason why He is worthy of our praises.  This is exactly the reason why we should not take Him for granted.
Yes, God is forgiving;  but no, He will not just let us ignore Him while we run rebellious without any sort of discipline of consequences.  If we willingly disobey and act defiantly then quickly ask for forgiveness, do we not think God can see through that?  The Lord looks at our hearts and our motives behind all that we say and do.
So what should our main takeaway be from this?  It behooves us to remember that it is not a good idea to test God's patience and grace, but even more so, let us focus on all His goodness.  When we seek God and ask Him for wisdom and strength to live in His will, He blesses us!  When we allow the Lord to work on our hearts in order to live out His righteousness, He will reward us!  The Lord is holy, great and awesome!!!
