(Matthew 4:1-4) Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”
(Luke 4:4) And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’”
Reminder: "praying effectively" involves knowing God's will. When we pray in His will (in His name), He may choose to not answer those prayers in the time period that we would like, or HOW we would like - but He will answer those prayers!
It is God's will:
- that we realize we cannot live on physical food alone (Mt.4:4, Lk.4:4)
- that we should depend on God's words (Mt.4:4)
Today's prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You that You are the Bread of Life. You not only save lives - whoever calls to You and accepts You into their life - but You sustain us with Your power and guidance. May we crave to take in Your words each day, and savor them, be nourished by them, trust them, and live by them. Amen.
