praying effectively: Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness (Matt.5:6, Lk.6:21)

(Matthew 5:6)  Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

(Luke 6:21)  Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.

Reminder:  "praying effectively" involves knowing God's will.  When we pray in His will (in His name), He may choose to not answer those prayers in the time period that we would like, or HOW we would like - but He will answer those prayers!

It is God's will:
- that we hunger and thirst for righteousness (Mt.5:6)
- that we hunger and weep now (Lk.6:21)

Today's prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for the blessings of love, joy and contentment that Your children can enjoy right now when they are living in Your will - no matter what tests or trials they are experiencing at the moment.

We may not be "happy" right now - but we can see how much our society pressures people to "be happy right now" - and yet - no matter how much they have or how much partying they do - there are so many sad and miserable people.  Convict their hearts to wonder what more there is to life.

This life is just a breath, in comparison to eternity.  So rather than chasing temporary earthly happiness, may we seek after You and Your will, confidently resting in Your promise of perfect, eternal life in heaven with You.  Amen.
