praying effectively: Do Not Test God (Matt.4:7, Lk.4:12)

(Luke 4:9-12)  And he led Him to Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here; 10 for it is written,
He will command His angels concerning You to guard You,’
11 and,
On their hands they will bear You up,
So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”
12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Reminder:  "praying effectively" involves knowing God's will.  When we pray in His will (in His name), He may choose to not answer those prayers in the time period that we would like, or HOW we would like - but He will answer those prayers!

It is God's will: that we do not test the Lord God (Lk.4:12, Mt.4:7)

Today's prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your consistency.  Recently we read in Your word that we should give our tithes obediently, generously and joyfully - and to test You in that - because You will bless us.  But it is clear, especially from the example above - of when Satan tested and tempted You in the wilderness - that there is a difference.

Give us the wisdom that we may differentiate!  When You clearly tell us Your will - help us to obey - whether or not You choose to reward us now or later.  Help us to not make stupid decisions and then expect You to reward us.  And when we are faced with tricky situations and decisions, make Your will obvious, and give us the strength and courage to be obedient and remain steadfast - trusting in You always.  Amen.
