praying effectively: Grow in Faith (Pv.25:19-20)

(Proverbs 25:19-20)
19 Like a bad tooth and an unsteady foot is confidence in a faithless man in time of trouble.
20 Like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar on soda, is he who sings songs to a troubled heart.
Reminder:  "praying effectively" involves knowing God's will.  When we pray in His will (in His name), He may choose to not answer those prayers in the time period that we would like, or HOW we would like - but He will answer those prayers!

It is God's will:
- that we have faith (25:19)
- that we do not try to lighten the mood when we should be serious and compassionate (25:20)

Today's prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, help us to be always growing in faith - realizing that Your faithfulness will help us through any struggles that might come our way.  Let us always give You the glory, so that we do not fall into the snare of arrogance.

And when others go through struggles, help us remain humble, compassionate and understanding, NOT making light of their circumstance, or NOT comparing and judging their faith, or lack of faith.  Give us the wisdom and insight to know what to say and/or do in those circumstances, so that we can be a source of Your light and encouragement.  Amen.
