(Revelation 10:1) I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud; and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire
It looks like this angel roars in order to get everyone's attention...
(Revelation 10:2) and he had in his hand a little book which was open. He placed his right foot on the sea and his left on the land; 3 and he cried out with a loud voice, as when a lion roars; and when he had cried out, the seven peals of thunder uttered their voices.
The seven peals of thunder deliver a message which was not meant to be shared (at least not yet)...
(Revelation 10:4) When the seven peals of thunder had spoken, I was about to write; and I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Seal up the things which the seven peals of thunder have spoken and do not write them.”
The angel then gives a message that the mystery of God will be revealed when Jesus comes to establish the Millennial kingdom...
(Revelation 10:5-7) Then the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven, 6 and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things in it, and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, that there will be delay no longer, 7 but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as He preached to His servants the prophets.
The following object lesson was to demonstrate that the justice and vengeance from the Lord sounds good, but with deeper realization, it is unsettling and should bring heaviness of heart to God's children...
(Revelation 10:8-11) Then the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying, “Go, take the book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land.” 9 So I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book. And he said to me, “Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.” 10 I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and in my mouth it was sweet as honey; and when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter. 11 And they said to me, “You must prophesy again concerning many peoples and nations and tongues and kings.”
From this we see:
- a description of another angel coming down out of heaven (10:1)
* clothed with a cloud (10:1)
* had a rainbow as a halo (10:1)
* his face was like the sun (10:1)
* his feet were like pillars of fire (10:1)
* he was strong (10:1)
* he was probably big (10:2)
* he placed one foot on the sea and one foot on the land (10:2)
* his voice was like a lion's roar (10:2)
* he is knowledgeable (10:5-7)
Personal experience: I have heard from many sources that when it comes down to it, it is not "easy" to kill someone.
After police officers have been involved in shooting incidences, they are mandated to go for counselling. It is a well-known fact, even if it is a righteous kill, people will struggle with the feelings of guilt for taking a life.
Just so, it should sadden us to know that many people, even though they are not believers and do not want to have any part of God, are going to hell for eternity. Even if some of those people have done evil things, we should never be happy about that.
This is where it gets tricky. This is where people can start to think that God will not follow through on what He says. This is where people will start to believe that there is no hell, and if there is a heaven, then ALL people when they die will go to heaven. Or at the very least, the "good" people will go to heaven, and the "bad" people will just become no more... or there is some sort of weird ghostly-second-chances in order to redeem themselves.
Today's takeaway: God is holy, therefore He cannot have a relationship with sin. In order to go heaven, we must be sinless. The only way we can have all our sins forgiven is through Jesus.
It's pretty simple, really. God WANTS everyone to have a relationship with Him and enjoy eternity with Him in heaven. So He came in flesh to die in our place, in order to make that happen. Either we want to accept His free gift, or we don't. It really doesn't make sense then if someone wants and expects to go to heaven - but doesn't want to have a relationship with Jesus...
(1 Timothy 2:1-5) First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
(Isaiah 30:18) Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him.
