eschatology, Second Seal: Open War (Rev.6:3-4)

Jesus breaks the second seal, which will be open war.  Again, this will be so much worse than any war ever seen before.  We see a RED horse with a GREAT SWORD - indicating that there will be lots of bloodshed.  Peace "will be taken from the earth" - which definitely sounds like a WORLDWIDE war.

When I see here in North America how people overreact to decisions made by the government, or simply rumors about what this government or that government might have done or said - add to that the absence of the Church - add to that a time spell with a cold war - things will be ready to explode..

(Revelation 6:3-4)  When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.” And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.

Today's takeaway:  salvation through Jesus is the only way to experience true peace.  Jesus has overcome sin and death, so that we might truly live when we believe and trust in Him.  Part of "believing in" and 'trusting" is to do God's will - believing and trusting that His way works!

Like the visual example most of us have heard:  Do you trust that chair to hold you up?  Yes, I can see the chair is there, and that it is sturdy and well made.  But to really believe in it and trust in it - we must sit down on it with all our weight...

(John 16:33)  These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

(Isaiah 54:10)  “For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, but My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, and My covenant of peace will not be shaken,” says the Lord who has compassion on you.

(Psalm 119:165)  Those who love Your law have great peace, and nothing causes them to stumble.

(Romans 12:14-21)  Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

(James 3:13-18)  Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

(Matthew 5:9)  “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."
