eschatology, Support from Zion (Ps.20)

The psalmist begins immediately with establishing the fact that the God of Israel will be present in Jerusalem, and He is able to help!  Of course, God is omnipresent, but Jesus was physically there in Israel once, and He will be coming to earth again (physically) to sit on the throne in Zion.  During the Millennium, Jesus will be right there to give counsel to people - face-to-face!  As well, Jesus will be there to guide the people of the Millennium into a time of obedience and great blessings...

(Psalm 20:1-9)  May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high!
May He send you help from the sanctuary
And support you from Zion!
May He remember all your meal offerings
And find your burnt offering acceptable! Selah.
May He grant you your heart’s desire
And fulfill all your counsel!
We will sing for joy over your victory,
And in the name of our God we will set up our banners.
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.
Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed;
He will answer him from His holy heaven
With the saving strength of His right hand.
Some boast in chariots and some in horses,
But we will boast in the name of the Lord, our God.
They have bowed down and fallen,
But we have risen and stood upright.
Save, O Lord;
May the King answer us in the day we call.

Today's takeaway:  Just as the psalmist ends by mentioning that the Lord from His holy heaven (perfect and loving, just and fair) was there for them then - we can know that God is ever-present to help us here, right now...

(Matthew 7:7-14)  “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?  11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
13 Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
