today's meditation (Gn.21:1-8) God appoints Time

(Dear Lord Jesus, guide me in Your word today and help me focus...)

(Genesis 21:1-8)  Then the Lord took note of Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had promised. So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me.” And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”
The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:

"At the appointed time" - God did as He promised!  And this was for a very specific promise which was going to happen for sure, without a doubt!  A promise which was spoken to Abraham, which came straight from God!

Even though they had this luxury of knowing what God was going to do, they still had some doubts along the way, and were still impatient.  Yet - as God promised - it happened when God deemed it best.

We get impatient with God when we ask Him for something, and it doesn't happen right away.  And for certain things, we do not even know if He will answer our prayers exactly the way we want them to be answered.

Now, if we ask for something like wisdom and do not doubt, we can know that God will definitely answer that prayer (James 1:5).  But if let's say, a single asks God to send them the best-suited spouse... that could take a bit of time.  One does not know when or how that prayer will be answered.  All we should be doing is trusting God, that He will answer that prayer in the best way possible, at the right time, because God is all-knowing, and God cares!
