praying effectively: Follow and Be Examples (1Thess.2:10-12)

(1 Thessalonians 2:10-12)  You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers; 11 just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, 12 so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Reminder:  "praying effectively" involves knowing God's will.  When we pray in His will (in His name), He may choose to not answer those prayers in the time period that we would like, or HOW we would like - but He will answer those prayers!

It is God's will:
- that we walk in a worthy manner as children of God (2:12)
- that we behave devoutly, being sincere, consistent and steadfast in our walk (2:10-11)
- that we behave uprightly and blamelessly in our walk (2:10-11)

Today's prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us upright and steadfast examples for us to follow, both in the Bible, as well as in our churches.  Shape and mold us into being examples for others to follow.  Not that any of us can be perfect, but in our blameless walk, guide us to know when and where we have made mistakes, so that we can be examples of how to reconcile, just as You prescribe in Your word.  Through it all, may others see You in our lives, all to Your glory.  Amen.
