today's meditation (Lv.20:1-9,27) Putting God First

(Dear Lord Jesus, guide me and give me insight as I read and study Your word...)

(Leviticus 20:1-9, 27)  Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “You shall also say to the sons of Israel:

‘Any man from the sons of Israel or from the aliens sojourning in Israel who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones. 3 I will also set My face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given some of his offspring to Molech, so as to defile My sanctuary and to profane My holy name. 4 If the people of the land, however, should ever disregard that man when he gives any of his offspring to Molech, so as not to put him to death, 5 then I Myself will set My face against that man and against his family, and I will cut off from among their people both him and all those who play the harlot after him, by playing the harlot after Molech.

6 ‘As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. 7 You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the Lord your God. 8 You shall keep My statutes and practice them; I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

9 ‘If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother, his bloodguiltiness is upon him.

...

27 ‘Now a man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.’”

TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:

There are Christians who consult mediums, horoscopes, Ouija boards, etc.  I do not understand this!  If one believes that God is all-knowing and all-powerful and cares about you, why would one seek out direction and answers from Satan, or a person who is just making things up based on cards, or stars, or what they are sensing, or...???  

Everything we need to know is in God's word.  And everything we need comes from God.

And one might think that no one sacrifices their children to gods, these days, at least not in North America, but I would beg to differ.  One of the most popular gods in our society is the god of money and leisure.  Many people put those gods before their own children's spiritual and emotional well-being.

If we truly believe in God, God should be first in our lives!  We should make God - our Lord God!!!  A husband and wife become one, and therefore they should work to make their relationship strong based on God's love, strength, unity, wisdom... And then together they are better equipped to see to their children's every need:  spiritual, emotional and physical.  

It is the Lord who sanctifies and saves us.  To have Him as our Lord God equals life!  Then putting Him first means that we will desire to trust in His will and put it into practice, which will equal a wholesome and purposeful life.
